Preparing for a Tarot Session

Tarot is a conversation between symbols, intuition, and your own inner wisdom. There are no “bad” cards in tarot - each tells a story rooted in the human experience and when read together in a “spread” paint a picture that reflects the energies (past, present, potential) of your inquiry.  Some people view the cards as spiritual guidance; others see them as a psychological tool, my approach leaves room for both. Rather than predicting a fixed future, tarot illuminates possibilities, patterns, blind spots, and opportunities that may not yet be fully visible. The focus is not on predicting the future, but rather, navigating the present to create a future that serves your highest and best good.

Before our session, I encourage you to spend a few moments reflecting on what you wish to gain from our time together. I would encourage you to come with a specific question or a situation you'd like clarity around. There may be time to explore several issues depending upon how deeply we dive.  Together, we'll explore the messages and symbolism that emerge and discuss how they may apply to your unique circumstances.

Please remember that any intuitive guidance received through tarot does not replace professional medical, legal, financial, or mental health advice. The cards offer perspective and reflection, but you remain the author of your own life and choices. All ethical intuitive advisors would encourage you to be discerning of any information you receive;  keep what serves you, tuck what’s worth pondering later in your back pocket– and discard the rest.

Most importantly, arrive with an open mind and a spirit of curiosity. Sometimes the cards confirm what we already know, reveal a perspective we hadn't considered or gently nudge us towards a course correction.  Either way, my goal is to create a thoughtful, supportive, and judgment-free space where we can explore whatever is most important to you. I look forward to our time together.

What Constitutes an “Inquiry”

An inquiry is the topic or question you wish for the cards to explore. Common inquiries include life path, career, relationships, etc. Depending upon the complexity of the inquiry, we could pull between 3-15 cards; a 30 minute session allows enough time for one inquiry, possibly two, depending upon the depths we explore. In an hour, we can typically get to three, sometimes more, inquiries. I can read cards for up to 3 “sub-inquiries” under each primary inquiry. For example, a client wants to look at a career change (inquiry) and is trying to determine which of 3 jobs to target (sub-inquiries).

While I’m happy to do a more general “life-path” reading, I work best when you give me a a topic/problem you’d like to explore and believe that you will receive the most benefit from a session with me using this approach.

Are Any Subjects ‘Off-Limits’?

We can broadly explore the energies surrounding most subjects; however, as the tarot interpreter, I choose not to entertain direct questions about health or medical issues, legal issues, birth/pregnancy, death or the specific timing of events —however, we can explore these topics more broadly. For example, “When will I get pregnant” is not a question we would seek answers to from the cards, but “What are the energies surrounding fertility” is within our purview.

If greater insight is needed, after our session, I can refer clients to a network of other helpful professionals I hold in high regard and have worked with directly (e.g., medical intuitives, shamans, psychics, mediums) who can provide more detailed nuance with regard to these and other sensitive matters.
